The 2017 Legislative Session will feature new leadership in the Senate, a newly renovated Capitol Building and a new opportunity for ARRM and its membership to tell legislators that now is the time to reform and invest in Home and Community-Based Services for people with disabilities.
Join ARRM and over 1,000 attendees as we rally in the Capitol Rotunda and fill the halls of the State Office Building and Minnesota Senate Building with our message of increased wages for Direct Support Professionals, smart and cost effect provider reforms and long-term sustainability for disability services across Minnesota.
Register for ARRM/MOHR Day at the Capitol: There is no registration fee to attend the Day at the Capitol. Simply fill out this registration form and send it by fax, email or snail mail. As in past years, we want hundreds of people to attend our Day at the Capitol. Should you decide to bring consumers with you, make sure they have informed permission from their parent or guardian as the activity for that day is lobbying on behalf of the providers and services they receive. The registration deadline is Friday, February 17th, 2017.
Making Legislator Appointments: While at the Capitol, ARRM encourages everyone to meet with their legislators and educate them on issues important to the disability community. In an effort to avoid multiple appointment for each legislator, Sara Grafstrom will set up group appointments for members requesting them. If you would like ARRM to set up a meeting for you, indicate that on the registration form. If you will not be meeting with your legislators during our Day at the Capitol, simply fill out the form with your group name and estimated number of attendees.
Per legislator requests, we will need the names and address of those attending meetings. Legislators are requiring this information so that they know which meeting attendees are their constituents. Simply fill out the above registration form with the names of those that you are registering, their address, and a district number. Please also include a contact number of one person from the group. A full spreadsheet of all appointment times from ARRM’s Day at the Capitol will also be emailed to members prior to March 14th.
Rally in the Capitol Rotunda at 10:00 am: With construction being complete at the Capitol, we will will be back in the Capitol Rotunda for our rally, beginning at 10:00 am. Agencies are encouraged to bring their own banners to hold. Signs and buttons will be provided to attendees.
